Meadow Vine Reversible Cable Scarf Knitting Pattern
This Meadow Vine Reversible Cable Scarf Knitting Pattern creates a beautiful interlocking design inspired by nature. It’s a full-sized adult scarf knitted in chunky yarn with alternating rope cable columns that display equally on both sides. However you wear your scarf, the interwoven cable texture is visible.

Table of Contents
Reversible Cable Scarf Design
- This Meadow Vine texture is a reversible pattern, with both sides looking identical.
- Similar to my recent reversible cable ribbles in 1×1 Rib, we are knitting this project up in the 2×2 Rib Stitch.
Interlocking Cable Design
- We are knitting 5 columns of 4/4 cable ropes.
- Columns 1, 3, and 5 are knit with a 4/4 Right Crossing cable.
- Columns 2 and 4 are knit with a 4/4 Left Crossing cable.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Here’s an intermediate-level project for knitters comfortable with cable techniques.
Scarf Size
This pattern creates a one-size adult knitted scarf.
- Unblocked: 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) wide and 70 inches (178 cm) long
- Blocked: 7 inches (18 cm) wide and 76 inches (193 cm) long
Knitted Flat and Bottom-Up
This scarf pattern is a rectangular shape knitted flat on straight needles bottom-up from the cast-on edge.
Swatch Gauge
Knitting Gauge (unblocked):
24 stitches and 16 rows = 4 x 4 inches in the Vine Cable Stitch Pattern (see below)
Since this is a one-size accessory, I personally feel that getting the correct gauge is not imperative. However, you may create your gauge swatch if desired, adjusting as needed.
Active Time to Complete
I estimate this pattern takes approximately 24 to 32 hours to complete.
Want to knit it faster? You may adjust your length and/or width accordingly if desired. Additionally, you may modify this pattern with different yarn weights and appropriately sized knitting needles.

- For the best results, I encourage blocking your piece. As a result, doing so allows the Meadow Vine cable texture to display beautifully, as well as creating a more pliable piece. If blocking is new to you, I suggest reviewing this great tutorial on blocking wool knitting by Brooklyn Tweed.
