Knitting Strawberry Bobbles
While scrolling on Pinterest, I saw beautiful Tunisian crochet strawberry patterns but hadn’t discovered a knitted version. So, it was time for me to sit down and figure it out! After a few attempts, I designed this easy bobble stitch and am happy to share this stitch pattern idea with you now!
Bobble Stitch Knitting Texture
This design is created with a 4-stitch bobble. We increase from one stitch to four stitches, knit them front-and-back in the Stockinette pattern, then use two decrease methods and a pass stitch over to get back down the original stitch. So cute and simple!
To create the field of strawberries, we are using two different yarn colors. Of course, red and green are the obvious color choices, but please feel free to get creative with your color combinations.
This bobble texture is great for knitting projects like scarves, dishcloths, blankets, and hats. And speaking of hats, I have an adorable Strawberry Baby Hat to check out, too!
Does this stitch curl or lay flat?
When the texture is atop a reverse stockinette background your piece will likely tend to curl within itself on the side edges. It is recommended to wet-block your work for the best results.

Is this Bobble Stitch Reversible?
No, this is not a reversible pattern. As you can see, the right side of the work displays the strawberry design, although your yarn floats are carried on the wrong (back) side.
Can this stitch be knit in the round on circular needles?
Yes, this pattern includes written instructions to knit strawberry bobbles in the round. Try it out with either circular or double-pointed needles to knit up hats, sweater sleeves, or infinity cowls.
How to carry yarn floats?
Colorwork knitting with two or more colors requires carrying your yarn in the back of your work. Doing so also creates a thicker swatch of fabric.
Think of yarn floats as the threads that bridge the gaps between your colorful stitches. They’re what allow you to create those lovely patterns, intricate motifs, and beautiful fair isle designs without drowning in a tangle of yarn.
I recommend catching your floats every fourth stitch for this pattern. This technique is new to you, make sure to watch my detailed video tutorial Catch Floats on my YouTube channel.
