About the Seven Seas Cable Knit Texture
Easy to Memorize
Because we are knitting up this cable braid in an easy ribbing texture, and just one cable technique, this is a very easy-to-memorize pattern.
Unique Ribbed Cable Braid
The Seven Seas cable braid is knitted with tightened twisted rib stitches using the Knit Through the Back Loop technique (KTBL). This twisted stitch is accomplished by entering the needle into the stitch in the opposite direction.
Can this stitch be knit in the round on circular needles?
Yes, with a simple adjustment to the odd number of rows, this pattern includes written instructions to knit it in the round. Try it out with either circular or double-pointed needles.
Is this Cable Stitch Reversible?
No, this is not a reversible pattern because the right side of the work displays the design, although the wrong (back) side does not.
Recommended Knitting Projects
This braid texture is a great choice to add to cabled scarves, hats, and blankets.
Does this stitch curl or lay flat?
When the texture is atop a reverse stockinette background your piece will likely have a tendency to curl within itself on the side edges. It is recommended to wet-block your work for the best results.
Knitting Techniques

For this braided design, we are just using one cable technique, the 13 Stitch Rib Right Cross Cable (13-ST RIB RC). We begin by slipping 6 stitches onto the cable needle and holding it to the back of our work. From the main needle, we knit through the back loop once and purl once, repeating this pattern twice for six stitches. We finish knitting on the main needle by knitting through the back loop once. Lastly, we pick up the cable needle, purling once and knitting through the back loop once, repeating this pattern twice for all six stitches
