When knitted up with self-striping yarn, this pattern easily creates an impressive gift for your newest family member.

Skill Level: Experienced Beginners. The entire blanket is easily created with a simple combination of knits and purls.

Texture Design: With a Stockinette Stitch body, the Seed Stitch borders hold its structure.

Size: 17.25 x 23 inches (44 x 58.5 cm) This rectangular shape is the perfect size for stroller, bassinet, and preemie baby blankets.

Easy-to-Memorize: The smooth texture is created with 2-Row Repeat Knit Stitch Pattern is a simple combination of knits and purls. Once you get into the rhythm, relax and enjoy your knitting without constantly checking the pattern. Perfect for knitting on the go!

Bottom Up: This knitted blanket is created from the bottom up knitted flat on a long circular needle.

Not Reversible: The smooth stockinette texture is visible on the right side of your work. The wrong side features a bumpy purl texture, which adds a contrasting visual interest to the back.

  • Yarn - Worsted Weight #4 in any fiber or color of your choice.
  • Amount 246 yards
  • My sample was knit in Queensland Collection Fair Isle yarn.

  • 1 Circular Size 8 US / 5.0 mm, 24” length or longer for blanket length
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Blocking Mats & T-Pins

Instructions

This printable pattern is specifically for the Stroller Size (17.25" x 23") Blanket.

Step 1: Cast On

Cast 69 stitches onto your needle with the long-tail method.

Step 2: Bottom Border in Seed Stitch

Rows 1 - 8: * K1, P1 *, K1

Step 3: Blanket Body
Side borders in seed stitch with the main texture in stockinette stitch.

Helpful Tip: Add a stitch marker between stitches 6-7 and 63-64 to demark the side borders.

Rows 9 - 110: Repeat Rows 1 & 2 for 102 total rows.

Step 4: Top Border in Seed Stitch

  • Cast Off all stitches loosely
  • Weave In yarn ends
  • Wet-Block Flat (required, since the borders will otherwise curl in)

Notes

Gauge: 16 sts x 20 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm) in Stockinette Stitch.

Blocking Required: Wet-Block Flat (required, since the borders will otherwise curl in).
